🏃 How NBA Players Train

8:00 AM — Shootaround (Game Day)
Light 45-minute session. Walk through plays. Shoot from spots. Visualize defensive assignments. Curry takes 500 shots during shootaround. Most players take 200-300.
9:00 AM — Film Study
Coaches break down opponent tendencies. Pick-and-roll coverages. Transition defense. Individual matchup preparation. Players watch 30-60 minutes of film daily.
10:30 AM — Strength & Conditioning
NBA players don't bulk — they build functional strength. Core stability, lateral movement, hip mobility. LeBron spends $1.5M/year on his body. Most players have personal trainers in addition to team staff.
12:00 PM — Nutrition
High protein, anti-inflammatory foods. Many players use personal chefs ($100K+ per year). Pre-game meals are 3-4 hours before tipoff. Carb-heavy: chicken, rice, vegetables. Some players (LeBron) spend $300K+ annually on diet optimization.
2:00 PM — Recovery
Cryotherapy, float tanks, normatec compression boots, massage. Sleep is the #1 recovery tool — teams hire sleep scientists. Players aim for 8-10 hours. Many nap before games (2-3 PM). The $1M sleep setup: blackout curtains, 65°F room, no screens after 8 PM.
7:00 PM — Game Time
The entire day is structured around peak performance at tipoff. Players arrive 2 hours early. Music in headphones. Last-minute film on iPad. Then 48 minutes of the most intense athletic competition on earth.
