Brunson vs. Maxey: A Battle for the Ages
The Knicks stumbled into the playoffs, losing four of their last five, including a 118-113 defeat to the 76ers on April 7. That loss, however, featured Joel Embiid sitting out. Now Embiid is back, fresh off a 37-point outburst against the Heat. Thing is, New York’s defense, anchored by Mitchell Robinson’s presence in the paint, has been their strong suit all year, allowing just 104.1 points per game.
Look, the 76ers might have Embiid, but they’re still a defensive liability on the perimeter. Jalen Brunson and the Knicks know how to exploit mismatches, and they'll be hungry after that regular-season loss. I see a low-scoring, gritty affair.
Knicks take Game 1, 105-101.
