Alright, another Monday, another slate of NBA games. We're not talking about a monster night, just six games on the schedule, but there’s still plenty to dig into for your fantasy lineups and daily contests. You gotta pick your spots, especially when some teams are clearly in different places than others. Like the Hornets, for instance. They're visiting the Pistons, and this is where you start sniffing around for some unexpected value. Miles Bridges has been carrying a huge load for Charlotte, putting up 21.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game over his last five. But Detroit's defense has actually tightened up a bit, holding opponents to 105.8 points over their last three. Still, the Hornets are a mess, and that makes them ripe for individual blow-up games when someone gets hot.
Here's the thing: you can't ignore the injury reports. It’s the single biggest factor in daily fantasy. The Hawks are in Portland, and while Trae Young is still out, Dejounte Murray has been absolutely cooking. He dropped 30 points and 7 assists against the Lakers on Friday. The Blazers, meanwhile, are missing Jerami Grant, which opens up more minutes and usage for guys like Anfernee Simons, who had 30 points and 8 dimes in their last game against Denver. That backcourt battle has some serious upside. You’re looking for volume, and both those guys are getting it in spades.
Real talk: the Wizards-Rockets game has some sneaky potential. Washington is just bad, surrendering the most fantasy points to opposing guards in the league. Fred VanVleet and Jalen Green could go off. Green, in particular, has been streaky this year, but he’s averaged 20.3 points in his last three outings. On the other side, Kyle Kuzma has been their consistent scorer, hitting 23 points or more in four of his last five. Tyus Jones also quietly racks up assists, averaging 7.6 over his last seven games. He’s a low-key play that could pay off if you're looking to fill out a roster spot without breaking the bank.
Don't sleep on the Jazz-Celtics matchup, either. Utah's been surprisingly competitive at times, but Boston is just a different beast at home. The Celtics have won 10 of their last 11 games at TD Garden. Jayson Tatum is averaging 27 points and 8.3 boards this season. The Jazz will need a huge effort from Lauri Markkanen, who put up 28 points and 10 rebounds against them back in January. My hot take? Boston wins by double digits, but Markkanen still manages 25 points. He’s too good to be completely shut down, even by the league’s best defense.
The Grizzlies-Kings game is a tough read. Memphis is decimated by injuries, but they still play hard. Desmond Bane is out, Ja Morant is out, Marcus Smart is out. Jaren Jackson Jr. is their only real consistent threat, averaging 22.5 points and 5.9 rebounds over his last four. Sacramento, on the other hand, is battling for playoff positioning. De'Aaron Fox has been brilliant, scoring 27.5 points and dishing out 6.5 assists per game in his last four. Domantas Sabonis is a double-double machine, leading the league with 63 on the season. You almost have to roster Sabonis in every format.
Tonight's bold prediction: Dejounte Murray will drop a triple-double against the Blazers. He's been that good.
